KIWIFRUIT PROCESSING GUIDE

Kiwifruit Processing Line Utilities and Layout Planning

Prepare site information for a kiwifruit processing line: product connections, utilities, drainage, access, controls and equipment maintenance space.

Start with the material and equipment flow

Place receiving, washing, preparation, pulping, buffering, treatment and filling in the order required by the selected route. Prepared-feed modules may start later in that sequence. Identify product and reject movement, container handling and operator access before fixing the layout. A useful floor plan considers the equipment duties and adjacent operations, rather than placing machines only by their visible footprints.

Record utilities at the connection points

Provide available electrical, water, heating and cooling conditions as relevant to the selected equipment. Identify supply quality, tie-in points, condensate and drainage responsibilities. Exact consumption follows the actual equipment and operating duty; generic figures should not be assigned from photographs. Include any limits of the site infrastructure so the proposed line can be reviewed against the conditions available.

Reserve access for operation and maintenance

Platforms, manual sorting positions, tank access, screen removal, valves, instruments and filling-head work areas need usable space. Discuss lifting routes and safe equipment handling as part of installation planning. A compact arrangement that blocks cleaning or maintenance can create a difficult operating line. Review the access envelope alongside product piping and control connections before the equipment layout is finalized.

Define site and equipment responsibilities

The proposed scope should name the product inlet and outlet, utility connections, control boundaries and installation tasks. Identify foundations, drains, site piping, electrical work and links to existing equipment. Agree the documents and checks required for installation and acceptance. Sharing this information early makes the equipment enquiry more specific without assuming that every civil, utility or commissioning task is included in the supply.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Before you choose your equipment.

Can utilities be estimated from the equipment image?

No. Exact requirements depend on the selected equipment, product and operating conditions.

What site drawing is useful for first contact?

A layout showing available space, utility tie-ins, access and existing equipment is a useful starting point.
